Day 33: Thesis Writing, Transitions, and Socratic Seminar

Objective: ASWBAT show careful insight in reading by providing specific textual evidence and participating in a Socratic Seminar. ASWBAT write a coherent thesis and use transitions to add flow to their essays. 


1. Track Mr. Herrera as he explains Being a Rockstar at Socratic Seminars. Take Cornell notes on page 38 of your Brain below your paragraph.


2. Socratic Seminar time! Participate in today's Socratic Seminar to gain Scholar Participation Points and improve your grade in class.


3. Use the introduction you created yesterday and the Say, Mean, Matter paragraphs you created earlier this week to answer the Culminating Focus Question for Of Mice and Men. Use the Transitions in Essay Writing Sheet to help you add flow to your essay. Type your essay in a Google document and share the link with Mr. Herrera on Monday.


4. The 8th Grade morning area is our area. Please represent us excellently! Ensure that this area is left clean everyday, especially right before lining up!

1. Check out the class website for things to do if you are finished early!


Homework:

  1. Finish typing the Of Mice and Men Culminating Focus Question into a Google document. You will share it with Mr. Herrera on Monday.
  2. Read and annotate pages 3-14 of The Crucible.
