Day 27: Idioms and Hyperbole

Objective: ASWBAT identify and interpret idioms and hyperbole in literature to gain meaning.


1. Look at the Points Goal Document to find your personal goal. Then fill out the AR Points Goal Survey.

2. Complete the Do Now.

3. Track Mr. Herrera as he explains Idioms and Hyperbole.

4. Read the Directions for Reading. Then read pages 33-38 of Chapter 4 of Of Mice and Men and find 10 examples of figurative language (metaphor, simile, personification, onomatopoeia, idiom, or hyperbole).



Homework: Read all of Chapter 4 of Of Mice and Men (pages 33-41). Find 5 additional examples of metaphors, similes, personification, onomatopoeia, idioms, and hyperbole and take notes using the chart we used in class.
