Day 49: The Crucible (Day 11)

Objective: ASWBAT evaluate the exposition, rising action, and climax of The Crucible.


Hard work pays off. English is hard work. You can do it!


Announcements:

  • Skills Assessment #2 is this Thursday, November 3, 2011.
  • Friday we will be going on a field trip to CSULA to see Phantom of the Opera. Your homeroom teacher will decide if you can go or not based on how much you display excellence and hard work in your classes.


1. Complete the Do Now.

2. Track Mr. Herrera as he presents Plotting The Crucible. Take notes on page 56 of your Brain. Then track Mr. Herrera as he models plotting a The Crucible and "talking" to the text.

3. In your small group, read p. 98-104. Use the strategy of "talking" to the text.

4. Then work collaboratively to complete "Plotting The Crucible." The first two groups to finish online do not have to complete this assignment on paper. Everyone else will need to paste this assignment onto page 57 of your Brain. No printouts will be allowed.
  1. Log in to your GOOGLE account.
  2. Make a copy of the document (File > Make a Copy).
  3. Invite your table group teammates to the document (Share > Type in individual emails > Done).
  4. Join the document and begin working collaboratively ONLINE.
  5. Get a PAPER copy and fill it out. Then paste it onto page 57 of your Brain.
5. Quickwrite: Describe the exposition, rising action, and climax of The Crucible.

  1. Read and annotate p. 105-111 of The Crucible.
