Day 55: The Crucible Socratic Seminar

Objective: ASWBAT engage in deep discussion about themes we have explored in The Crucible.


Hard work pays off. English is hard work. You can do it!


Announcements:
  • Gmail chatting and/or emailing anyone other than Mr. Herrera is strictly forbidden. There will be serious consequences for breaking this rule.
  • The Word Bank Challenge will begin again on Monday, November 14, 2011.
  • You are in control of your own grade in this class and your own destiny. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you're not in control. Make the best choices you can make, always.
  • Tomorrow we will take the STAR Reading Test for the second time to check your new reading levels! Be ready to take this test by making sure you sleep well, eat a good breakfast, and relax.


1. Review Being a Rockstar at Socratic Seminars. Review your notes on page 38 of your Brain.

2. Review the Socratic Seminar Peer Grading Sheet. What should you do to receive an excellent grade if you are inside the circle? What about if you're outside the circle? Discuss with a partner.

3. Review the Socratic Seminar Sentence Starters. Engage in today's Socratic Seminar!

4. Write your Self-Reflection in class.

5. Answer today's quickwrite.
