READ ALL TASKS CAREFULLY
0. Note from Mr. Herrera: Hey KIPPsters, good morning or good afternoon to you all :-) Did you know KIPP LA Prep was the #1 middle school in LAUSD? You're probably thinking, "Duh, Mr. H!" I just want to take a moment to acknowledge all the hard work each and every one of you puts in every day. It's tough work being a KIPPster sometimes, but you all do it with style. Seriously, I mean that. Y'all are awesome ;-) That said, your teachers work hard to make our school awesome too! That's why I'll be in a meeting all day today, working to improve your education. I would like you to remember a few things: (1) You're awesome. (2) Mr. H is awesome. (3) Show how excellent you really are by completing today's tasks and doing it in style. Your goal is to get everything done by the time the class period ends. Work hard. Be nice =D
1. If you have not already finished your Life Map, you have some time in this class to finish. Your goal is to finish as soon as possible. There is much more you need to do, so don't take too much time on this.
2. Submit your Life Map by sharing the link with me. If you did your Life Map on paper, turn it in to me by placing it on my desk. Please review the Life Maps Criteria for Success before submitting it.
3. If you have not already done so, finish grading your Brain. Give each page, from 13-46, a score of M = Met, E = Exceed, or NY = Not Yet. Use the Table of Contents and your teammates to cross-check your work.
4. Take a look at the Criteria for Success and Feedback for your Say, Mean, Matter responses on Author's Tone. Now look at your responses to the Quickwrite from Friday. Did you receive a score of "Met", "Exceeded", or "Not Yet"? Your goal today is to "Exceed" or go above and beyond the criteria for success on your Quickwrite.
5. Reread pages 47-53 of The Crucible. Afterward, complete this chart on page 48 of your Brain.
6. Show what you have learned by answering today's Quickwrite: After reading Act One, what evidence can you point to that proves there is hysteria in the town of Salem? Your answer must have: (a) Say: give a direct quote from the text that proves hysteria exists, (b) tell what the quote means to you, and (c) describe why the quote is important for the reader.
