Day 43: The Crucible (Day 7)

Objective: ASWBAT apply the strategy of "talking to the text" in The Crucible.


1. Today you will learn a strategy called "talking to the text." What do you think that means? Write a one-paragraph explanation on page 49 of your Brain.

2. Track Mr. Herrera as he explains and models Talking to the Text.

3. In your small group, read pages 54-61. After reading, apply the strategy of "talking to the text" to these pages. Get Mr. Herrera's signature when you have finished.

4. Quickwrite: Explain the strategy of "talking" to the text. How does this strategy help you gain meaning from the text? In your answer, make sure you have: (a) Your own definition of "talking" to the text, and (b) An analysis of how it helps you gain meaning.
