Day 45: Context Clues (Day 2)

Objective: ASWBAT analyze the meaning of words in context in The Crucible.

Hard work pays off. English is hard work. You can do it.

1. Complete the Do Now. Do your best as this will count as part of your classwork grade.

2. Today you will continue practicing how to figure out the meaning of unknown words in context. Track Mr. Herrera as he reviews Using Context Clues and review your Cornell notes on page 50 of your Brain. Then track Mr. Herrera as he models using context clues.

3. In your small group, read pages 77-83 and use the strategy of "talking" to the text. After you read, copy the Context Clues Part II chart onto page 52 of your Brain and complete it.

4. Quickwrite: Explain another strategy you learned today to figure out the meaning of an unknown word. Then explain how "talking" to the text helps you understand what you're reading.
