1. Re-read the Commitment to Excellence for students. Then sign your name on the line provided. Print your name by writing a heading in the top right corner of this page.
2. Write summaries for Louie, His Cousin, and His Other Cousin (p. 23-25), Marin (p. 26-27), Those Who Don't (p. 28), and There Was an Old Woman (p. 29-30) onto page 71-72 of your Brain. Remember to show excellence in your writing.
3. Complete HOMS Common Assessment #1 Practice 1.0. Follow all directions carefully. Then take a look at the answers and engage in a class discussion about them.
4. Quickwrite: Why is it important to become the best reader you can be? What do you think is the key to becoming an awesome reader?
